See the purple arrow pointing to the large rotating knob? This knob controls your navigation between the page groups, rotate the knob all the way clockwise and you’ll stop on the nearest page. The Garmin will show distance, time and course to the nearest airports.

Whether you are a student pilot, private pilot or a commercial pilot if you’re cockpit is equipped with a Garmin 430 / 530 you need to know this. Anyone who flies with the Garmin 430 / 530 knows there is a lot of information on the page groups and subpages but finding something like the nearest page is actually pretty simple.

Imagine you’re at 5,500 feet and the engine quits! Follow the ABC’s you learned in your MzeroA online ground school program.

Your ABC’s are complete but can you make it to an airport? Do you even know where the nearest airport is? Let’s use the Garmin 430 / 530 for help.

You can press in on the small cursor knob and use the large knob to scroll to the nearest airport, press the direct button and it will guide you to the airport!

 

You can also use the nearest page for the nearest VOR’s & intersections.
